Yule 2017

A record of the Court Proceedings of Their Excellencies of Delftwood, Propraetor Marcus Claudius Cincinnatus and Propraetrix Desiderata Drake at Yule upon the Ninth day of December, 2017 AS 52. Presented by Freiherrin Helena Mützhasen, Windmill Pursuivant, with assistance by Lord Sabastian Mora and Marcellus Titus Cincinnatus.

The court of Their Excellencies was opened after a long day.

All children present were summoned before Their Excellencies and given windmill treats, though such children were but a single youth and a babe in arms.

Their Excellencies enquired if any present were attending their first event, but those newcomers who had been present did not stay for court.

Their Excellencies then determined through a series of queries who present had participated in our Society the longest, exempting those who had already won the prize. After a slight debate, Lord Justin Lymner was determined to be the longest-serving member, and was given a lamp to continue to light the way for newcomers.

The Propraetorii then summoned those who had gone above and beyond expectations for the day: Meisterin Felicitas Flußmüllnerin, the Honorable Lady Amalie Reinhardt, Lady Catherine O’Herlihy, Lord Eldjarn the Thoughtful, Mistress Katja Davidova Orlova Khazarina, Drucilla, and Ania of Delftwood. The gentles were then presented with Millstones as a token of their work.

Lady Glenna Chomondeley, Event Steward, was then summoned forth to provide further thanks to her staff and those who assisted in arriving early to set up, including Baron Edward Harbinger, Baroness Anastasie de Lamoure, Lady Catherine O’Herlihy, the Honorable Lady Amalie Reinhardt, Freiherr Fridrich Flußmüllner, Meisterin Felicitas Flußmüllnerin, and particularly Megge Gormshuileach, who provided calmness.

The Propraetorii attempted to summon Freiherrin Helena Mützhasen for the results of the Peace Tournament, but she was trapped behind the thrones by the various retainers. They allowed her to present the winners from where she stood. She thanked the six judges and the five participants and listed the top three scorers. In third place was Lord Justin Lymner. In second place was Lady Margarita Carpintero, and in first place was the Honorable Lord Hrólfr á Fjárfelli. All three were awarded prizes, and the first-place finisher was awarded a scroll by Lady Wylde Wysse with callilgraphy by Freiherrin Helena Mützhasen.

Their Excellencies allowed Countess Caryl Olesdatter to add words of encouragement to all of the entrants in the Peace Tournament and how she was amazed by the skills demonstrated by the artisans.

Lord Jan Lange Ten Walde was then summoned forth as the current Baronial Bardic Champion. He performed a short piece of farewell then was released of service.

Finding a vacancy in their Champions, The Propraetorii demanded Lord Ixac Ben Simone hop to it, and installed him as Their new Bardic Champion. The scroll was illuminated by Elizabeth the Nameless with calligraphy by Frieherr Fridrich Flußmüllner.

The current Arts and Sciences Champion, Lady Wylde Wysse, was summoned and released from service.

Again finding a vacancy in the Champions, their Excellencies spoke on the rough competition, but then set on Lord Justin Lymner as their new Arts and Sciences Champion. The scroll was illuminated by Elizabeth the Nameless with calligraphy by Meisterin Felicitas Flußmüllnerin.

Being impressed with artistry shown that day, and many days before, Their Excellencies sought the presence of Lady Margarita Carpintero and inducted her into the Order of the Capstan. The Scroll was by Baroness Anastasie de Lamoure, and the spinning medallion was made by Lady Wylde Wysse.

Their Excellencies again summoned before them their Event Steward, Lady Glenna Chomondeley, whereupon they spoke of her continued service to the Barony through many ways, and inducted her into the Order of the Windmill. The scroll was illuminated by Elizabeth the Nameless with calligraphy by Freiherrin Helena Mützhasen.

The Propraetorii further announced the ongoing Scribal Challenge, open to everyone regardless of residence. Artisans are encouraged to create scroll blanks, which will then be donated to the Barony. The categories are most authentic, most creative use of materials, and the greatest number. Prizes will be awarded in each category to the youth, the new scribe, and the experienced scribe who meets the criteria. Their Excellencies noted that Lady Catherine O’Herlihy was in the lead for the most scrolls, but the final winner would be determined at the Feast of the Seven Deady Sins the upcoming February.

There being no further business, the court was closed.
