Tournament of the Windmill – 2018

A record of the Court Proceedings of Their Excellencies of Delftwood, Propraetor Marcus Claudius Cincinnatus and Propraetrix Desiderata Drake at the Tournament of the Windmill upon the Fifth day of May, 2018 AS 53. Presented by Freiherrin Helena Mützhasen, Windmill Pursuivant.

In the Early Afternoon:

The Court of Their Excellencies was opened.

The Propraetorii summoned those members of the Order of the Whirligig present. By accident, one Raistlin of Delftwood came forward in error. Conveniently, Propraetor Marcus announced that this error was one they had planned on fixing already, so bid him stay, and inducted Raistlin of Delftwood into the Order of the Whirligig. Scroll illuminated by Elizabeth the Nameless, with calligraphy and wording by Meisterin Felicitas Flußmüllnerin.

Court was suspended.

In the Evening:

The Court of Their Excellencies was resumed.

The Propraetorii welcomed all to the event.

All those for whom Tournament of the Windmill was their first event were called forth. Though there were many new faces seen that day, all had begun travels home before Court resumed.

Their Excellencies summoned all the youth still present, and provided them with soapy water and small sticks with holes in them in order to keep said children occupied. The children were pleased.

Their Excellencies then determined through a series of queries who present had participated in our Society the longest, exempting those who had already won the prize. Mistress Katja Davidova Orlova was determined to be the longest-serving member of our society, and was given a lantern to symbolize the light she showed to all.

The Event Steward, Ania Mhoriach, had business before Their Excellencies Court, and was called forth. She thanked the marshals, ministers of the lists, all the people who helped make the event happen, all retainers, and anyone who served in any way at the event—and provided tokens to show her appreciation. She announced that though there were no formal activities after Court, all were invited to stay into the evening.

Upon hearing that dice games had been present at the event, Their Excellencies demanded the presence of Lady Margarita Carpintero, the ringleader of such activities. She proudly affirmed these deeds, and noted twelve accomplices, which included youth! She declared the best youth at Perudo was none other than the Propraetor’s son, Marcellus Cincinnatus. Furthermore, she noted that two adults were neck-and-neck in their mastery of the game, and called forth Lord Jan Lange Ten Walde and Lady Keara Caitlyn MacLeod, who proceeded in court to roll for a winner. Though chance, the winner was Lord Jan Lange Ten Walde, who paid “taxes” on his “winnings”. Prizes for the winners were made by Lady Margarita Carpintero.

The Propraetorii then summoned Lord Jan Lange Ten Walde and Lady Catalina Carpintero de Diaz and gave them Millstones to represent the extra effort they gave to the day’s event.

Their Excellencies brought forth Freiherr Fridrich Flußmüllner, youth marshall, who proudly proclaimed there were five youth fighters vying for the first-ever Youth Heavy Weapons Champion. The winner was determined to be Adrian of Delftwood. Sword blank prize donated by The Family Flußmüllner. Scroll illuminated by Elizabeth the Nameless, with calligraphy and wording by Meisterin Felicitas Flußmüllnerin.

The Propraetorii summoned their current Heavy Weapons Champion, Sir Thorsol Solinagua, divested him of his regalia, and released him from service. Propraetor Marcus then proclaimed that since no authorized fighter came forward, he, Propraetor Marcus, would carry his own sword and serve as his own champion until such time as willing candidates could be found.

With sadness, Their Excellencies reminded the Barony that they would be stepping down in the deep of winter next. But there was also joy for there were candidates who answered the call. Their Excellencies called forth The Honorable Lady Amalie Reinhardt and Lord Ixac ben Simone as one candidate couple and Mistress Oðindisa Bykóna and Lord Justin Lymner as the other candidate couple. These gentles were presented to the Barony as the official candidates in the Baronial Election. Furthermore, the Propraetorii stated that there would be a Candidate Meet-and-greet upon the 24th of May, A.S. LIII at the regular Arts & Sciences Meeting.

The Propraetorii then invited everyone to stay into the evening.

There being no further business for the day, Court was Closed.
