Documented: The Business of the Court of Their Excellencies at the Feast of the Seven Deadly Sins, 11 February Anno Societatis LI. As recorded by Maddalena D’Agostino and overseen by Lady Margarita Carpintero, Windmill Persuivant.
On the list field during the day:
At the command of Their Excellencies, Lord Heero Himura was snatched into court to stand before Their Excellencies and chastised for being an exceptionally elusive moving target. Their Excellencies then inducted him into the Order of the Millguard for his efforts in combat, archery and fencing. Scroll by Baroness Anastasie De Lamoure; translation by Kameshima-Kyo Zentarou Umakai.
Court suspended.
Court resumed in the evening:
In the spirit of goodwill, Their Excellencies presented Their Sylvan Majesties Marcus and Margerite Eisenwald with … a shrubbery.
Mistress Oriana Fridrikskona was recognized as the person with the most years in the Society. Her Excellency Desiderata Drake presented her with a clay oil lamp, representative of her lighting the way into the future for newer members.
At Their Excellencies’ invitation, six gentles for whom this was their first SCA event came forward. They were gifted with windmill charms in commemoration of their attendance and warmly invited to attend future events.
Millstones were presented to Baroness Oddkatla Jonsdottir, Lady Keara Caitlin MacLeod, Don Michael Gladewyne, Lord Richard MacFergus the Younger, Baron Edward Harbinger, and Lady Glenna Cholmondeley of Delftwood.
Event Autocrat Baroness Anastasie De Lamoure thanked all who helped prepare for, set up and clean up after the event.
Don Michael Gladewyne announced the winners of two of the day’s three tournaments, Bear Pit and Pine Box, noting that the winner of the Baronial championship would be announced later. Her Majesty Queen Margerite Eisenwald won the Bear Pit tournament, and Master Rian Gortyroyan won the Pine Box tournament. Her Majesty explained that Don Orlando di Bene del Vinta and Lord Durante de Caravaggio fought and double-killed each other, thus granting her the victory.
Don Michael Gladewyne was called forward and released as Fencing Champion. Don Michael explained that he had fought 2 tournaments with the same partner, Don Vigo Da’Napoli, and called that gentle forward. Don Michael then gifted Don Vigo with a T-shirt that reads “Never Underestimate an Old Man with a Sword” – to match his own.
Master Benedict Fergus atte Mede was then called forward. Baroness Clarice Roan came forward to vet the candidate. Upon successfully passing the exhaustive vetting process, Master Fergus was declared the new baronial fencing champion.
Their Excellencies called forward Lady Amalie Reinhardt. In recognition of her many A&S works, including creating largesse and much more, Lady Amalie was inducted into the Order of the Capstan. Scroll calligraphed and illuminated by Lady Megge Gormshuileach.
His Excellency Marcus called forward Master Benedict Fergus atte Mede, noting that thanks to Master Fergus’ shoemaking skills, he wears Blue Suede Shoes. In recognition of his skills, Master Fergus was inducted into the Order of the Capstan. Scroll by Baroness Helena Mutzhasen and Figaro the cat.
Their Excellencies invited Baron Artemius Andreas Magnus forward to assist with the presentation of the Mistral. Baron Artemius was praised for his skill in stained glass and His Excellency Marcus noted that he had made 14 beautiful mistrals out of stained glass. The Order of the Mistral was summoned, and to his great surprise, Baron Artemius himself was presented with the 14th – and last – stained-glass mistral that he himself had made and thus inducted into the Order of the Mistral.
Having no further business to conduct, the court of Their Excellencies, Marcus Claudius Cincinnatus and Desiderata Drake, was then closed.
