A Shoote in the Wildwood 2016

Being the report of the Court of Their Excellencies, Marcus Claudius Cincinnatus and Desiderata Drake, by the grace of the crown 11th Propraetor and Propraetrix of Delftwood. Documented: The Business of the Court of Their Excellencies at A Shoote in the Wyldwoode, 3-4 September Anno Societatis LI. As recorded by Lady Margarita Carpintero, Windmill Pursuivant, with the assistance of Mistress Othindisa Bykona, Corey of Delftwood, and Stefan of Delftwood.

On the afternoon of September 3rd, in the main hall. Their Excellencies invited Her Royal Highness, Princess Margerite Eisewald, to join them in Their court.

Their Excellencies welcomed all in attendance.

Those gentles attending their first event were called forward and given tokens to commemorate their first foray into the modern middle ages. In all, five individuals stepped forward, were recognized, and encouraged to return again.

Next, all four children in attendance were called forth and rewarded with Windmill-shaped cookies. Before the children were dismissed, Master Urho Waltterinen was summoned and bid share the results of the day’s Monster shoot. Master Urho announced that Randolf had been the youngest archer of the day. Master Urho and the children were thanked and released from Their Excellencies court.

A short game was then played to determine that Dame TSivia bas Tamara V’Amberview had been in the SCA for 45 years, longest of all in attendance. Dame Tsivia was given a small lamp, to both symbolize and thank her for her time as guiding light in the Society.

Their Excellencies then acknowledged the hard work of a few individuals during this past Pennsic War. Baroness Helena Mützhazen, Lady Catherine O’Herlihy and Lady Keara Caitlyn Macleod were thanked and given Millstones for their services.

Their Excellencies then recognized individuals who had gone above and beyond on this day. Baroness Nest ferch Rys, Lord Hrolf Fjarfell and Snorri were called forward and also awarded Millstones.

The autocrat of the event, Baron Edward Harbinger was then called forward and gave his thanks to individuals who had contributed to the event, in particular, Lord Hrolf Fjarfell for hosting a Monty Python themed shoot.

Co-autocrat, Lady Wylde Weiss, then stepped forward to announce the winners of the Largess Derby. First place was awarded to Lady Amalie Reinhardt (for her silk hankies), second was a tie between Lady Elska Fjarfell (for her inkle loom accessories) and Lady Margarita Carpintero (for her beeswax candles), and third place went to Lady Joan Madison (for her kumihimo cording).

Their Excellencies then called forward Lord Garran O’Murchadha to thank him for his years of quiet service to the Barony. He was then inducted into the Order of the Windmill. Scroll by Baroness Clarice Roan, medallion by Lady Wylde Weiss.

Once again, Baron Edward Harbinger was called forward by Their Excellencies. His leatherworking was lauded, and he was made a member of the Order of the Capstan. Scroll in progress by Baroness Clarice Roan.

Their Excellencies next called forward Lord Jan Langhe ten Walde to acknowledge his service to the Barony, particularly as Chronicler. He was then inducted into the Order of the Windmill. Scroll by Lady Felice de Thornton.

Seamus Rogan was then called forth. Their Excellencies explained that they had been bid by Their Royal Majesties, Byron Rex, and Ariella Regina to convey news of work done by their will, in their court at the recently passed Pennsic War. The words of Their Majesties were then read, and the knowledge made public that Seamus Rogan had been Awarded Arms and was henceforth recognized as a noble of Aethelmearc.

His Excellency Marcus and Her Royal Highness Margerite with the assistance of Lady Lasairfhiona inghean Aindrias and Baron Artemius Andreas Magnus, acknowledged the birthdays of Her Excellency Desiderata Drake, Magistra Solveig Throndardottir, Lady Amalie Reinhardt, Lord Hrolf fjarfell.

Court Suspended.

On the afternoon of September 4th, in the main hall. Court Resumed. Their Excellencies requested the presence of all those whom this was their first event. One gentle stepped forward and was gifted with a token commemorating their first day with the Society.

Magistra Solveig Throndarsdottir was invited forth. Their Excellencies explained that the occasion of Magistra Solveig’s elevation had created much positive feeling among members of the populace, and as a result there were gentles bearing gifts for the Aethelmearc’s newest Laurel. Baronsfru Othindisa Bykona was invited forth and spoke about Magistra Solveig’s elevation to the Laurel at the recently passed Pennsic War. With the assistance of Mistress Orianna Fridriskona, Mistress Othindisa presented, as gifts, garb appropriate to persona and period for Magistra Solveig.

Next, Their Excellencies called forward Edelvrouw Lijsbet de Keukere to announce the winners of the Cast Iron Chef tournament. Lady Ragna Feilan and Lady Kalishka Perdeslava were named overall winners of the tournament, for their success in creating a Viking themed meal. The team of Katelinn and Amelia was named as Baroness’s choice by Her Excellency Desiderata. Lady Ragna Feilan and Lady Kalishka Perdeslava were named Baron’s choice by His Excellency Marcus. Edelvrouw Lijsbet also offered gratitude to Master John Michael Thorpe and Corey of Delftwood for donating the prizes for the victors, to the Judges of the competition, and all who had contributed to the pantry.

Their Excellencies then acknowledged gentles whose service for this Shoote in the Wildwood was above and beyond that which could be expected. Baroness Anastasie de Lamour, Sebastian Mora, and Jenny of Candella were presented Millstones in recognition of their efforts.

Their Excellencies then called forward Lady Amalie Reinhardt who presented tokens for the throwers of the Barony that had achieved new ranks.

Their Excellencies then called on their current Thrown Weapons Champion, Baron Boris Dragonsbane. His Excellency was thanked for his service and was divested of the champion’s regalia. Their Excellencies commanded Baron Boris to remain a further moment while they remarked on his long history of martial contributions to Delftwood, spanning nearly every discipline. So noting his accomplishments, Their Excellencies named him a Companion of the Guard of the Mill. Scroll illumination by Elizabeth the Nameless, calligraphy by Helene Mutzhasen.

Their Excellencies once again requested the presence of Lady Amalie Reinhardt and named her Their Thrown Weapons Champion, invested her with the regalia of her new station, and bid her join their court. Scroll by Elizabeth the Nameless, calligraphy by Felicity FluBmullnerin.

Their Excellencies then summoned their Archery Champion, Baroness Anastasie de Lamoure. Her Excellency was lauded for her exceptional service as archery champion, and was divested of the regalia of champion, and bade seek her comfort amongst the populace. Noting that the position of Archery Champion stood vacant, Baron Edward Harbinger was then called forward and named to this post. Once invested with the regalia of his new station, Baron Edward was instructed to assume his place in Their Excellencies court.
