A Shoot In The Wildwood 2017

A record of the Court Proceedings of Their Excellencies of Delftwood, Propraetor Marcus Claudius Cincinnatus and Propraetrix Desiderata Drake at the Shoot in the Wildwood upon the Second and Third day of September, 2017 AS 52. Presented by Freiherrin Helena Mützhasen, Windmill Pursuivant.

2 September, On the Range:
Court was opened, interrupting the current archery shoot.

Lord Corwin Alexander Templeton was summoned before Their Excellencies in order to have his service commended and inducted into the Order of the Windmill. Scroll by Baroness Anastasie deLamoure, medallion by Wylde Wysse.

Court was suspended.

2 September, In the Hall:
Their Windmill Excellencies welcomed all to the event.

Their Excellencies asked to see all for whom A Shoot in the Wildwood was their first event. Propraetrix Desiderata pointed out all the chatelaines present and encouraged newcomers to seek them out. Their Excellencies both handed out tokens of welcome.

Their Excellencies then asked all to rise in order to determine the one present who was longest in the society (who had not yet won the prize). This was determined to be Master John the Pell, who was then given a lamp to continue to light the way for newcomers.

Their Excellencies invited Baroness Sadira bint Wassouf, who entered in song along with Baroness Nuzha bint Saleem. Baroness Sadira asked that Lord Jan Lange Ten Walde be asked to join her. She told a story about how she had lost her voice, but Lord Jan’s advice returned it to her. She presented him with gifts: coins that cannot be spent, notes that cannot be sung, and a kiss to last forever.

Their Excellencies sought out Wulff von Neuremburger, who joined us from the Barony of Stierbach in Atlantia to run the Woods Walk Shoot. He provided tokens to the following top scorers: Mary of Hartford as Junior Archer, Hrolfr Fjarfell as Archer, Gawain De Rowen as Marksman, Katheryn Tantzel and Corwin Alexander Templeton as Bowman (tie), and Takamatsu Gentarou Yoshitaka as Master Bowman.

Maddalena d’Augustino was then summoned. Their Excellencies spoke of her service to the Barony in her short time within the Society and inducted her into the Order of the Windmill. Scroll by Freiherrin Helena Mützhasen based on LF.89 in the Visconti Hours, medallion by Lady Amalie Reinhardt.

Court was Suspended.

3 September, In the hall:
Their Excellencies thanked those who stayed through the rain.

The children present were brought forth and given goodies for their presence and patience through the rest of court.

Their Excellencies called forth Lord Corwin Alexander Templeton and The Honorable Lady Amalie Reinhardt. They explained that normally marshals who sign up to work are not considered to go “above and beyond” but for this event, there were so many curveballs that the gentles deserved and were awarded Millstones as tokens of gratitude.

The Event Stewards, Freiherrin Felicitas Fluβmüllnerin and Freiherr Fridrich Fluβmüllner (Event Steward Freiherrin Helena Mützhasen demurred due to heraldic duties) were asked to join Their Excellencies. They presented a special gift to Fela Fluβmüllnerin for her unwavering assistance to the event, including set up, making a scroll, and general usefulness, even when she had the opportunity to play or just relax.

The Event Stewards then thanked the marshals, those who helped set up and worked through the day, and those who worked for Cast Iron Chef. They announced that there was lost and found, and that quiet time would begin at 11PM.

Their Excellencies called forth Lord Corwin Alexander Templeton, who spoke about his special night shoot the previous evening: how archers had to land the shadow of the arrow across targets in order to earn points (and how the light changed between rounds). Their Excellencies then called in the winner of the shoot: Mary of Harford. Arrow Scroll by Lord Corwin Alexander Templeton.

Before Mary of Harford was released, Their Exellencies summoned Baron Edward Harbinger, who had business with the young lady. He noted that she shot on the Baronial Champion range (for fun), and succeeded in some challenges where no other archer did. He presented her with a personal token as well as a token of inspiration from the ongoing SPARK challenge.

The Honorable Lady Amalie Reinhardt requested a moment in court to update the populace on the current ranks of those in Delftwood participating in Thrown Weapon.

Their Excellencies asked that The Honorable Lady Amalie remain, in order to divest her as Baronial Thrown Weapons Champion. She presented new regalia created by herself and Snorri to be passed on to future Baronial Thrown Weapons Champions.

Lord Eion MacCogadhain was then summoned into court and asked if he would still be willing to take on the expected duties of Baronial Thrown Weapons Champion. Upon affirming he was, he was invested as the new champion. Scroll illumination by Elizabeth the Nameless, with calligraphy by Meisterin Felicitas Fluβmüllnerin.

Their Excellencies called forth Baron Edward Harbinger, in order to divest him as Baronial Archery Champion and release him from service.

Lord Aurelio DiBaldassare was then summoned and asked if he would still be willing to take on the expected duties of Baronial Archery Champion. Upon his affirmation, he was invested as the new champion. Scroll illumination by Fela Fluβmüllnerin with calligraphy by Meisterin Felicitas Fluβmüllnerin.

Their Excellencies then inquired if the math was completed for Cast Iron Chef rankings. Hearing that it was so, they summoned Edelvrouw Lijsbet de Keukere and Lord Sebastian Mora. They thanked those who helped set up the Cast Iron Chef area, those who donated food or funds to buy it, the six teams of contestants and the judges.

His Excellency Marcus named his favorite as the team of chef Morgan Littlejohn, sous chef Lord Fearghus mac Eoin, and archer, Siobhan Readnait. They were given preserves by Keara Caitlyn MacLeod, a future 1 lb block of Propraetor Marcus’s special cheese and the secret location of where he gets it.

Her Excellency Desiderata named her favorite as the team of Chef Algridis Wolfus, sous chef Aldonza Wolfus, and archer Robert of Furness. They were given preserves made by Keara Caitlyn MacLeod.

Edelvrouw Lijsbet announced that the winners of the A.S. LII Cast Iron Chef were the team of Algridis, Aldonza, and Robert. They were given assorted ceramic cookware safe for use over fires, while Robert was awarded a future dozen custom arrows made by the hands of Baron Edward Harbinger.

Edelvrouwe Lijsbet begged a boon to share her inspiration for the past three years, and presented a two volume set of cookbooks from her own library to Morgan Littlejohn.

Before Lijsbet was released, Their Excellencies gave leave to Master John Michael Thorpe to tell a tale of how he has been inspired by Lijsbet’s work on Cast Iron Chef, and presented her with the first metallurgically-correct blade he created.

Their Excellencies then sought the presence of their Baronial Signet, Meisterin Felicitas Fluβmüllnerin. Together, the three issued a challenge to all the scribes (both in and out of the Barony) to create scroll blanks between now and the Feast of the Seven Deadly Sins, including a check-in at Yule. There would be three classes of scribes: Youth, Novice, and Experienced. And prizes in each class for the largest quantity of blanks, the most historically-accurate blank, and the most unique/creative blank. All those participating would receive a token of thanks.

Their Excellencies then thanked everyone again for staying through the weekend.

There being no further business, court was closed.
