A recording of the proceedings of the court of Their Excellencies of Delftwood, Baron Ixac ben Simone and Baroness Amalie Reinhardt, 12th Baronage of Delftwood at Yule on the 14th Day of December, A.S. LIV (2019) as presented and recorded by Freiherrin Helena Mützhasen, Windmill Pursuivant.
In the Late Morning
Court was quietly opened to little fanfare and less notice.
Their Excellencies sought the presence of Claude du Vivier, conveniently standing nearby. They noted his reluctance to be singled out in court, but wanted to thank him for his service at Pennsic. They gave him a Millstone for his work in camp.
But not being finished with Claude du Vivier, Their Excellencies then spoke of his greater service to the Barony, and inducted him into the Order of the Windmill. The Scroll was calligraphed an illuminated by Lady Megge Gormshuileach.
Seeing another conveniently nearby, Their Excellencies then requested that Ania Mhoireach present herself. They spoke of her growing skill and renown with the blade and inducted her into the Order of the Millguard. Scroll calligraphed by Freiherrin Helena Mützhasen and illuminated by Master Caleb Reynolds.
Court was quietly suspended.
In the Afternoon
Court was resumed.
Their Excellencies welcomed all to the event and had the earlier pieces of business announced.
Baron Ixac then spoke of inspiration and how at all Delftwood events, Their Excellencies would place at the Gate a bowl of tokens, of which the populace was encouraged to take and give to an individual (or many) who inspired them in any way.
Baroness Amalie spoke of a similar program sponsored by “AE Leads” seeking to recognize inspiring individuals.
Their Excellencies then called forth all the children present at the event, and provided them with goodies (so long as the parents of said children approved).
Their Excellencies then asked for those for whom this was their first event, or first event in Delftwood. They provided the individual with a cup and encouragement to return to many more events.
The Event Stewards, Lady Margarita Carpintero and Lady Catalina Carpintero de Diaz, and Cook, Bjorn Grimsson, were then granted a moment of time in court to express their thanks (though Their Excellencies, knowing about a slow-recovering broken leg, strongly encouraged Lady Catalina to remain in her seat so as not to jostle her more than necessary). The Event Stewards and Cook thanked their staffs, those that helped set up and run the various events. The primary staff where then thanked by
Their Excellencies.
While in the mood of thanking those who went above and beyond, Their Excellencies called forth Bjorn Grimmson, Ulfgrima Tannadotir, Wylde Wysse, Megge Gormshuileach, Ania Mhoireach, Gemma, Claude du Vivier, Andrew of Thescorre, Dylan, and Nuzha bint Saleem. They gave each of these individuals a Millstone for their work in making the event go smoother.
Their Excellencies noted many challenges they had sponsored this day. For the challenge of Renewal, they named Lord Thomas Haworth the victor, and asked all who had not heard his performance to seek him out and listen. For the dessert challenge, Their Excellencies declared Lady Gulsah al-Zakayyia the victor for her delicious tarts.
And being reminded of victories and champions, Their Excellencies noted that there was a competition for the Baronial Youth Arts & Sciences Championship. Lucia Capriolio was called forth and asked if it was still her intention to be considered for the position. Upon finding it was, Their Excellencies invested her into the position. Scroll by unknown artists.
The current Arts & Sciences Champion, Margarita Carpintero, was called forth to explain the competition to find her successor. She was thanked for her service, and divested of the office.
Finding a vacancy, their Excellencies then called Illaria of Delftwood before them, and asked her if was still her intention to be considered for the position. Upon finding it was, Their Excellencies invested her as Baronial Arts & Sciences Champion. Scroll illuminated by Isadora Rogan and calligraphed by a Flußmüllner.
The current Bardic Champion, Lady Megge Gormshuileach, was called forth to explain the competition to find her successor. She was thanked for her service, and divested of the office.
Finding a vacancy, their Excellencies called Ania Mhoireach, and asked her if it was still her intention to be considered for the position. Upon finding it was, Their Excellencies invested her as Bardic Champion. Calligraphy and Illumination by Elizabeth the Nameless.
Their Excellencies called forth Keara Caitlyn MacLeod, and noted her many skills as a cook. To mark what they were about to do, they called for all members of the Order of the Capstan to join them as they inducted Keara into said Order. Scroll illuminated by Wylde Wysse and calligraphed by a Flußmüllner
Not being finished with the Order of the Capstan, Their Excellencies then called forth Katelinn of Delftwood. They spoke of her skills with making bows, arrows, and leather, and inducted her into said order. Scroll illuminated by Caleb Reynolds and calligraphed by a Flußmüllner.
With most of their Court business finished, their Excellencies sought to know the outcome of the Peace Tournament, so called forth Mistress Oðindisa Bykóna, coordinator of the competition. She thanked her judges and all who entered. Entrants could receive their scores and commentary from her after court. Second place went to Gulsah al-Zakayyia for her Italian White Vine illumination. First place went to Illaria of Delftwood for her reliquary bags.
All those who were dressed appropriate to the theme of the event were encouraged to stay nearby after court for a group photo.
There being no further business, Court was closed.
