A Shoot in the Wildwood 2018

A record of the Court Proceedings of Their Excellencies of Delftwood, Propraetor Marcus Claudius Cincinnatus and Propraetrix Desiderata Drake at the Shoot in the Wildwood upon the First and Second days of September, 2018 AS 53. Presented by Freiherrin Helena Mützhasen, Windmill Pursuivant.

On Saturday the first of September

The court of Their Excellencies was opened, and They welcomed all to the event.

The Propraetorii determined through a series of queries who present had participated in our Society the longest, exempting those who had already won the prize. Master Rian Gortyroyan was determined to be the longest-serving member of our society, and was given a lantern to symbolize the light he showed to all.

Their Excellencies then called before them The Honorable Lady Amalie Reinhardt and Lord Ixac Ben Simone, and announced, with permission of the Crown, that those two gentles would succeed them on the Windmill Thrones.

Young archers who had participated in the Monster Shoot were called before Their Excellencies. As holding with tradition, the youngest archer, one Fritz Flußmüllner, was given a special arrow to carry for the next year. Then The Legend of the Colors was read by Bardic Champion, Ixac Ben Simone.

The Propraetorii invited Baron Caleb Reynolds before them, understanding he had business. Baron Caleb had previously won part of the Scroll Blank Challenge at the previous Feast of the Seven Deadly Sins. Part of the prize was a book of blank paper. Baron Caleb showed to all that the paper was not blank – it had been filled with blank illuminations. He returned these illuminations to the Barony of Delftwood with the understanding that the blanks be distributed between the Barony and the Kingdom of Æthelmearc.

Freiherr Fridrich Flußmüllner was called forth to read the results of the Youth Heavy Fighting Tournament. The Most Chivalrous was awarded to Fela Flußmüllnerin, the Most Skillful with Shots was awarded to Fritz Flußmüllner, but the overall winner was Jakob of Delftwood, who was given a prize of a sword blank.

Their Excellencies, not being finished with the children, invited those members of the Order of the Whirligig to enter or stay before them. Seeing the prowess and interest of Jakob of Delftwood, they invited him back and inducted him into the order. Scroll was illuminated by Baron Caleb Reynolds, calligraphed by Meisterin Felicitas Flußmüllnerin, upon a text by Freiherr Fridrich Flußmüllner.

The Propraetorii, noting that there was another order yet too small, called before them the Order of the Guard of the Windmill of Delftwood (Millguard), and noting who was missing, called The Honorable Lady Amalie Reinhardt to join the order, and inducted her into it. Scroll was illuminated by Baron Caleb Reynolds, calligraphed by Meisterin Felicitas Flußmüllnerin, upon a text by Freiherr Fridrich Flußmüllner.
The Baronage then called before them Lady Margarita Carpintero, who had run a largesse competition. The winner was determined to be Lady Wylde Wysse, with second place being Caitlyn of Tintanell, and third place being Megge Gormshuileach.

Lord Ixac ben Simone had business before the court. He brought forth birthday cakes for Propraetrix Desiderata and The Honorable Lady Amalie Reinhardt, whose birthdays were both this day.

There being no further business at this time, court was suspended.

On Sunday the second of September

Court was resumed to much merriment and singing.

The Propraetorii again welcomed all to court.

A moment of silence was observed for Gwenhwyvar verch Morwyn, a member of Angel’s Keep and former member of Delftwood, who passed away earlier that morning.

Their Excellencies called before them any for whom this was their first event. They pointed out chatelaines in the general populace, and they gave tokens of welcome.

Mary of Harford was brought before their Excellencies. For her skill in the shadow shoot the night before, she was presented with a hand-decorated arrow made by Lord Corwin Alexander Templeton.

The Propraetorii understood that there were throwers to be recognized. They called forth The Honorable Lady Amalie Reinhardt, who announced that the following ranks were attained: Thrower – Marcellus Claudius Cincinnatus, Jonathan of Delftwood, Jakob of Delftwood, Ixac ben Simone; Verfur – Eoin MacCogadhián, Marcus Claudius Cincinnatus; Caster – Amalie Reinhardt.

Current Baronial Archery Champion, Aurelio de Baldassare, was called forth and released form service to Their Excellencies.

Current Baronial Thrown Weapons Champion, Eoin MacCogadhián, was called forth and released from service to Their Excellencies.

Propraetor Marcus, seeing that it was perhaps unwise to have so many sharp and pointed objects in the hands of Propraetrix Desiderata, called forth Kelsus. Their Excellencies then invested him as Baronial Thrown Weapons Champion and invited to join him in their court. Scroll was illuminated by Baron Caleb Reynolds, calligraphed by Meisterin Felicitas Flußmüllnerin

Their Excellencies then sought the presence of Lord Dubhgall Domnall MacNayre, and noted that he had a difficult time without a quiver, but he persisted and shot well nonetheless. They then gave him a temporary formal quiver as part of the regalia for Baronial Archery Champion as they invested him in the office. Scroll was illuminated by Baron Caleb Reynolds, calligraphed by Meisterin Felicitas Flußmüllnerin

Their Excellencies noted that their supplier for millstones was fresh out, and as such, they would be giving Millstones for Pennsic, Wildwood, and Yule, at Yule (the 8th Day of December, AS. 53) – so all should come to Yule.

The Propraetorii summoned Catherine O’Herlihy, and noted two interesting facts: That she had recently moved to the Barony Marche of the Debatable Lands, and that her Order of the Windmill medallion was lost soon after she received the award many years ago. To solve the second problem, and to send a message to their cousins of the Debatable Lands, Lady Catherine was presented with a very large Order of the Windmill medallion for her to wear proudly in the land of comets and let all who see her know she is “Delftwood.”

Noting that there had been a cooking competition, their Excellencies summoned Edelvrouwe Lijsbet de Keukere and Lord Sabastian Mora to speak on Cast Iron Chef. They thanked the cooks, archers, and judges for participating.

Propraetor Marcus declared Baronage Choice to be the team of Potter Dee, Guiliana Focolare and Abdul Ishkhan al-Rashid. They were awarded token boxes made by Lady Wylde Wysse.

Edelvrouwe Lijsbet announced that the winners this year were Lady Maedbh ni Clerigh, Cornelia of Harford and Mary of Harford. They were awarded herbs and dried spices growing in pots thrown by Sir Thorsol Solinauga, and a note for a dozen custom arrows made by Lord Chebe.

Their Excellencies noted that Mistress Oðindisa Bykóna had business before the court. She brought forth a birthday cake for Magistra Solveig Thondardottir, whose birthday is on this day.

There being no further business, the court of Their Excellencies was closed.
