Benedict and Helene

June 13th, AS 50 (2015)
Tournament of the Windmill
Barony of Delftwood

Being the court report of Their Excellencies, Benedict Fergus atte Mede and Helene al Zarqa', Tenth Baron and Baroness of Delftwood, by the grace of the Crown of Æthelmearc. Held at the Tournament of the Windmill in Their Barony of Delftwood on June 13th, Anno Societatus Fifty. Baronsfrú Oðthindisa Býkona, Fleur Herald, reporting herald.

Their Excellencies welcomed everyone to the event.

Their Excellencies called forward The Honorable Lord Marcus Claudius Cincinnatus. They thanked him for his service as Windmill Pursuivant. Marcus was then presented a token of thanks and Their Excellencies wished him and his wife, The Honorable Lady Desi, good luck as they would be invested as Baron and Baroness in the coming months.

Their Excellencies called before them all those for whom this was their first event in our Society. No one appeared, but they were still happy to see many faces of people they had already met.

Their Excellencies determined those who travelled the farthest to attend the event, and welcomed them into their court. They gave the travelers tokens to remember Delftwood by.

Their Excellencies called forward Lady Arsinoe, the event steward. Arsinoe thanked all those who had helped her run the event. She noted that The Honorable Lord Marcus and The Honorable Lady Desi were especially helpful as they had mentored her through this process.

Their Excellencies called forward Lord Finnr jafnkollr, their Heavy Weapons Champion. They noted a new champion had arisen and thanked Finnr for his service. They then divested him of the regalia and asked him to take a seat among the populace.

They noted that they were short a champion, and asked that Heir Fridrich Flußmüllner be called forth to take up the duties of Heavy Weapons Champion. They invested him with the regalia and asked him to join their court. The scroll is forthcoming.

Their Excellencies talked about the marshal challenge they had issued. They wanted to recognize those gentles that had taken on a new weapons form or received a new authorization. They then called forward Baron Boris who had achieved a new authorization in fencing, Lady Zinovia who had recently authorized in heavy weapons, and Lord Jan who had increased his rank in thrown weapons. Each were given tokens to commemorate the occasion.

Their Excellencies then noted that certain people worked hard to make the event a success. They called before them Joan Madison, Lady Lijsbet de Keukere, Maesterin Felicitas, Baron Aidan, The Honorable Lord Marcus, and The Honorable Lady Desi. Their Excellencies presented these gentles with Millstones and thanked them for their contributions to the day’s event.

Their Excellencies invited Baron Boris Dragonsbane into their court. They remarked at how they had seen Boris work hard at both fencing and archery. They were excited to see him once again enjoying marshal activities. They then inducted him into the Order of the Millguard. Scroll by: Heir Fridrich Flußmüllner.

Their Excellencies requested that Lord Guillaume de Chaumont enter their court. While someone went to find him, His Excellency commanded that the Order of the Millguard do the Hokey Pokey. When Guillaume presented himself, Their Excellencies spoke of his commitment to demos and for the miles of lucet cord he had made for the use of the barony. They then inducted him into the Order of Windmill. Scroll by: Maesterin Felicitas Flußmüllnerin.

Their Excellencies called forward Lady Arsinoe. They spoke of how she was always where she was needed and assisting with whatever she could. They noted the work she had done for Tournament of the Windmill. They then inducted her into the Order of the Windmill. Scroll by: Lady Amalie Reinhardt and Sheila.

Her Excellency then requested that Frau Katerina Beckerin enter their court. Her Excellency remarked that it has become tradition to give pies to those given writs to contemplate entrance into the Order of Defense. Frau Katerina then surprised Baron Fergus with his pie atop which she had fashioned a pie crust sword.

Their Excellencies spoke of their service challenge. Not unlike the arts and sciences and marshal activities challenge, Their Excellencies want to see and hear of the service that the barony members had done. They would recognize in court those of whom they heard of doing good works from those outside of the barony.

Their Excellencies thanked everyone again for coming, spoke of the fun they had, and then bid safe travels home to all.

There being no further business, the court of their Excellencies was closed.
