Being the report of the first Court of Their Excellencies, Benedict Fergus atte Mede and Helene al Zarqa', by the grace of the Crown of AEthelmearc, Tenth Baron and Baroness of Delftwood. Held at The Feast of the Seven Deadly Sins and Baronial Investiture in Their Barony of Delftwood on the afternoon of the 2nd day of February, Anno Societatus Forty-Seven. Baroness Olivia d'Anjou reporting herald, assisted by Mistress Alheydis von Körckhingen.
Their Excellencies welcomed all those who had braved the weather to attend the event this day. They thanked everyone in attendance for making the event a success and also very special for them.
Their Excellencies called before them outgoing Baronial Herald, Mistress Alheydis von Körckhingen. Their Excellencies granted Mistress Alheydis' request to retire from the office of Pursuivant. They thanked her for her nearly decade long service to the Barony as its Herald and wished her well in her retirement.
Their Excellencies requested the presence of Baroness Olivia d'Anjou. They affirmed Baroness Olivia's request to take up the office of Delftwood Pursuivant. Baroness Olivia then gave her oath of service to Their Excellencies and the Barony.
Their Excellencies asked the following gentles to join them in court: Lady Svana in kyrra, The Honorable Lady Moniczka Elzbietka Poznanska, Lady Genevieve de Chaumont, Lord Guillaume de Chaumont, Lady Lijsbet de Keukere, Lord Finnr jafnkollr, Meisterin Felicitas Flußmüllnerin, Margaret Grace, Freja Flußmüllnerin, Mistress Alheydis von Körckhingen, Thegn Oeric LeStrange, and Lord Justin Lymner. These fine folks created over two-hundred yards of lucet used for the trim on His Excellency's outfit and also spent many hours in the construction of Their Investiture clothes. He said it took this wonderful crew of people to make him pretty enough for court. Their Excellencies then expressed their extreme gratitude for the hard work of the lucet makers and tailors of Their Investiture clothes.
Their Excellencies called to their presence those attending their first event. A large group of gentles came forward. Their Excellencies were excited to see so many new faces. They welcomed them to the current Middle Ages with gifts of M&M's and jewelry, and encouraged them to continue their journey into the Society.
Their Excellencies requested the Event Steward, Baroness Jennet the Gentle, to attend them. Her Excellency asked the populace if they had fun this day to which they replied a resounding yes. She thanked Lady Genevieve for the creation of the Borgia game played throughout the day and announced the winners of the game. The Church winner: Arsalan Egiseg (beads donated by G&G Treasures), The State winner: Master John the Pell (trim donated by Calontir Trim), The Merchant winner: Erbeki Abaqai, the Princess Royale. (Gemstones donated by Aries Designs). Overall Populace/Support of the Borgia's winner: Lord Arthur (Borgia game donated by Baroness Olivia d'Anjou). She announced that House Hamilton had earned the most money for the Baronial coffers from the Kissing Booth. It raised $185 through the combined efforts of Ralf, Kayley, Desi, Morgan, Marcus, Eleanora, Magra, and Olivia. Her Excellency informed everyone the best table contest would be judged during feast where the winner would also be announced. Addendum: At feast: Table 4 won the best table presentation and was gifted a hand-made Viking chest crafted by Garran O'Murchadha and Dreye Andrivaux. As they were also the designers of Table 4, Garran and Dreye awarded the chest to Margarita Carpintero and Catalina Carpintero de Diaz that they might continue in their new love of our Game.
Their Excellencies called before them, the event's Fencing Marshal In Charge, Baron Rian Gortyroyan. His Excellency asked if the fencers enjoyed the tournament. After receiving a satisfactory answer, informed Their Excellencies that a successful tournament had been run. His Excellency Rian thanked the fencers, marshals, and Ministers-of-the-List for their involvement in fencing this day.
Their Excellencies expressed that not just marshal prowess was important to them, but also the courtesy and chivalry displayed by the fencers. Observers and marshals alike all agreed that Lady Jennifer of Hartshorn-Dale was Most Chivalrous in the tournament. She was called forward and presented with a scroll to commemorate her exemplary behavior in the lists. Illumination by Amalie Reinhardt with calligraphy by Lady Julianna Stafford.
Their Excellencies asked if there was an overall winner of the fencing bear pit. Baron Rian said there was and Count Robin Wallace was called forward. Their Excellencies announced that Count Robin had very decidedly won the tournament and for this presented him with a scroll to mark the occasion. Their Excellencies called forth Matthew the Wrong as outgoing Baronial Fencing Champion. They divested him of the regalia and thanked him for his service as Champion.
As they were now lacking a Fencing Champion, Their Excellencies summoned before them Master Ian Muir called Keyard. They noted his exceptional performance in the tourney and asked if he would stand in their court as Baronial Fencing Champion. Master Ian accepted and Their Excellencies presented him with a scroll and placed upon him the baldric, sword, and buckler of the Fencing Champion. Their Excellencies called into court, their Thrown Weapons Marshal, Baroness Anastasie de Lamoure. Her Excellency asked that Lord Ráðúlfr Eiríksson and Lady Aleidis Lanen also be called into court. Her Excellency explained the levels of achievement in Thrown Weapons. Lady Aleidis had earned the rank of Thrower and Lord Ráðúlfr had earned the rank of Verfur. They were presented with badges of their new rank created by the hand of Her Excellency, Anastasie.
His Excellency stood and explained that he and Her Excellency wished to be able to recognize the service given at an event. They announced the creation of the token of the Millstone and called forth the following gentles: Lady Svana in kyrra, Brian, Master James Hawk Galloway, Lord Marcus Claudius Cincinnatus, and Lord Michael Gladwyne. Their Excellencies said with the help of event staff and the populace in attendance, they found these people invaluable to the success of the event. Their Excellencies then presented each with a carved stone circle to represent the Millstone.
Their Excellencies then bid Reinaldr bjórtappr to come before them. They had noticed his love of the bardic arts and willingness to share his knowledge with the populace. They noted his service as Bardic Champion to their predecessors, Edward and Anastasie. Her Excellency expressed her affection for the role of Bardic Champion as she had once held this honor. For his passion and talent, they created him a member of the Order of the Capstan and presented him with a medallion and scroll to mark the occasion. Scroll by Baroness Clarice Roan.
Their Excellencies requested the presence of Their Excellencies, Artemius Andreas Magnus, Clarice Roan, Edward Harbinger, and Anastasie de LaMoure, 8th and 9th Baronage of Delftwood respectively. Their Excellencies explained to the populace that they wished to make official the work started by their Predecessors. The creation of a youth service award was started while Artemius and Clarice held the lands of Delftwood. The name and badge were now in the process of being approved, but Benedict and Helene wished to start using the order today. They then called forward Lord Bran mac Dímmáin and Lord Vilhjálmr Eðvarðarson. The boys had spent many hours assembling and disassembling the Baronial thrones as well as actively seeking out how they could help at events in Delftwood and in neighboring groups.
