Barony of Delftwood

Being the Report of the Court of Their Excellencies, Edward Harbinger and Anastasie de Lamoure, Ninth Baron and Baroness of Delftwood, held at A Shoote in the Wildwood in Their Barony of Delftwood on the 1st and 2nd days of September A.S. 47. Mistress Aheydis von Körckhingen reporting herald, assisted by Her Excellency Baroness Olivia d'Anjou.

September the first:

Their Excellencies welcomed the youth present at the event, who assured Their Excellencies that they had enjoyed the day's events. Their Excellencies gifted them with pots of most wonderous paste, which seemed like the dough from which bread is made, but bore colors as the flowers of the field. One young gentle, moved by love of our Barony announced most vigorously that his favorite was blue.

Their Excellencies called before them any for whom this was their first vist to the Knowne World. Numerous gentles joined Their Excellencies and affirmed that they too had enjoyed the events of the day. Their Excellencies bid them return and encouraged them to ask of the populace should they have wonderings about our lands, or needs during their travels here.

Their Excellencies called upon Their Thrown Weapons Champion, Lord Viljálmr Eðvarðarson, and thanked him for his faithful service to themselves and to the protection of the barony. His service having come to a close, Viljálmr, was divested of the regalia of his post.

Their Excellencies spoke of the great contest held this day among those who throw the axe and the knife. Having witnessed his skill, Their Excellencies proclaimed Lord Ráðúlfr Eiríksson to be the new Thrown Weapons Champion of the Barony of Delftwood. Lord Ralph was invested with his rightful regalia and was presented a scroll by the hand of Isadora Rogan.

Their Excellencies spoke again to the great skill they had witnessed upon the Thrown Weapons field, and proclaimed Baron Aquila d'Athos to be the victor of the tournament. Scroll by Isadora Rogan.

Their Excellencies told of another great contest held this day among the baronial archery champions of AEthelmearc. The champions put their prowess to the test against all manner of dangers, including savage beasties from the South Seas. Having bested all opponents, Iain Monlach was proclaimed the Seven Pearls Archery Champion. Scroll by Isadora Rogan.

Their Excellencies welcomed Lord Dragul Maksimov Vodnikof of Skraeling Althing in the Kingdom of Ealdormere before them and expressed their gratitude for his industry in making the site tokens for the day. They expressed their delight and pleasure, and that of the populace, with the pewter rings he had generously crafted for the event.

Ichabod Lobster was called forth, but was not to be found, as he was taken ill and proclaimed a most Icky of Lobsters. Lord Ralph appeared in his place and accepted on his behalf a scroll commemorating Ichabod's induction into the Order of the Windmill. There being no further business, court was adjourned.

September the second:

Their Excellencies once again called forth the youth present in the hall. their Excellencies thanked them for protecting the baronial lands from all manner of beasts visible only to the eyes of youth, and charged them with the task of transforming the natures of the beasts through tender care and affection.

His Excellency then spoke to the youth of the tradition in the barony of presenting an ancient arrow to the youngest archer of the day. His Excellency read the tale, and described to all the meaning of the colors of the arrow. Unto Alex Wulfstan, youngest archer of the day, did His Excellency presented the arrow,  made by the hand of Thyri Oddsdottir and bestowed by Lord Edward the Grey of Greyledge. Young Alex was charged with the care of the arrow for one full year, whereupon he was to return to these lands, and pass forward the arrow to the next youngest archer.

Their business with the youth having concluded, the youths were invited to withdraw to the company of Lady Sultana, keeper of the chest of playful treasures, that each youth might choose a toy from the baronial larder.

Their Excellencies then spoke of the archery contest this day and proclaimed Lord Michael Gladewyne as the newest Archery Champion of the Barony of Delftwood.  Their Excellencies invested Lord Michael with the regalia of his post and bid him take his place upon the dais. Scroll by Isadora Rogan.

Having witnessed great skill upon the archery field, Their Excellencies proclaimed Seamus Rogan as the overall victor of the archery contest. Her Excellency presented to him a sumptuous and bejewelled zibellino, crafted by the hand of Aevianna Nordengel of the Barony of Skraeling Althing in the Kingdom of Ealdormere. Their Excellencies called before them Dragos Pelikanos, co-event steward of the day, that he might recognize and thank his staff. Dragos thanked firstly Her Excellency as co-steward of the day. He thanked also the many marshals who ensured the safety of the contestants upon the ranges. he thanked Baroness Jennet for her assistance with the cleanup, and Lord Michael and Aurelio for their assistance with the castle. Dragos thanked Lady Desiderata and Lady Sultana and Amalie for their service to the youth. Dragos thanked Don Fergus and Lady Helene for their generous stewardship of the stone soup circle. Lastly, Dragos thanked all those who attended for making the event a great success.

Their Excellencies spoke of the lottery that had been open to the populace throughout the event, the proceeds of which were to be divided equally between the winner by chance and the baronial beautification fund. Baroness Olivia extracted a single ticket from among the many purchased and announced Aleidis Lanen as the winner.

There being no further business before Their Excellencies, this their court was closed.
