Edward and Anastasie
December 18th, AS 45 (2010)
The Return of the Holly King
Barony of Delftwood

Being the Report of the Court of Their Excellencies, Edward Harbinger and Anastasie de Lamoure, Ninth Baron and Baroness of Delftwood, held at The Return of the Holly King in Their Barony of Delftwood on the 18th day of December A.S. 45. Mistress Aheydis von Körckhingen reporting herald.

His Excellency addressed the populace, to whom he spoke movingly and tenderly of the generosity and service of Lord Edward the Grey of Greyledge, whereupon he bid all those assembled to honor a moment of silence in remembrance of his recent passing.

Their Excellencies called forth Lady Svana in kyrra, their Arts and Sciences Champion. Their Excellencies congratulated her on the newly elevated status of Angels Keep from Canton to Incipient Shire, but acknowledged that, as she now resides beyond the borders of the barony, it was Their painful duty to relieve her of the station and regalia of Champion. Their Excellencies thanked Lady Svana most sincerely for her services and wished her well in her further pursuits.

Their Excellencies then called forth Jan ten Walde and informed him that he was Their choice as the new champion, by virtue of his standing as runner-up in the competition held at Their Shoote in the Wildewood. Having affirmed that it was his desire to serve Their Excellencies, Jan ten Walde was invested as Champion of Arts and Sciences and bid to take his place among Their protectors.

Lord Marcus Claudius Cincinnatus was bid come forth. Their Excellencies spoke of his many services as a fighter, most particularly in teaching others, that the barony might be well-protected by a knowledgeable and skillful army. In honor of his prowess and service, Lord Marcus was named a Companion of the Millguard. Scroll wording (in Latin and English), calligraphy and illumination by Edle Herrin Felicitas Flussmüllnerin.

Lady Lasairfhíona inghean Uí Ghallchobhair (known as Rina the Unpronounceable) was bid to come forth. Their Excellencies brought to the attention of the populace the many labors of this fine lady in the rapier community of both the barony and shire, and in honor of her skill and instruction named her a Companion of the Millguard. Scroll to be forthcoming from the scriptorium of Angels Keep.

Their Excellencies called forth all youths in attendance. All were questioned as to whether they had enjoyed the day's events, and all happily affirmed that they had. Each youth was gifted with toys and games from the baronial toy chest.

Their Excellencies called forth all for whom this was their first event. Three gentles presented themselves at the dais, one of whom had already attained rank within the Barony as the Lady of Misrule. Each was thanked for their enthusiastic participation and invited to return soon to our lands where they might always find a welcoming home.

Their Excellencies welcomed Lady Svana in kyrra and thanked her for running and judging the dessert competition. Lady Svana attested to the difficulty in determining a winner, as both entries were near equal in tastiness. After much deliberation, it was decided that Lord Aidan Ransford should be named the victor and bestowed a fine earthenware jar and charged with the duty of filling it with suitable comestibles.

Their Excellencies welcomed Sultana bint Mihail and Roxanne who presented Their Excellencies with a large basket of games and toys for distribution to the youth in attendance that day. Their Excellencies thanked them for their services in running the gaming competition. Sultana then announced the winner of the contest as Lord Gyles de Blair, who was presented with a blue and white cap and a curious confection identified by Lord Gwydion as a "lolly", whereupon Lord Gyles issued a deep and hearty "Ho Ho Ho."

Their Excellencies invited before them their event steward, Lord Gwydion of Arden. Lord Gwydion addressed the populace and begged their attention as he bestowed thanks and gifts upon those who worked to make the event a success: Lord Marcus Claudius Cincinnatus and Lady Desiderata Drake were thanked for their assistance in securing a fine hall; Sultana bint Mihail was thanked for her administration of the Gaming Contest; Lady Svana in kyrra was thanked for her administration of the Dessert Competition; Lady Éadaoin ingen Chanacáin was thanked for her fine efforts in the kitchen, providing both day board and feast; and earlier in the day, Baroness Clarice Roan was thanked for her teaching of the pomander ornament class. Lord Gwydion also called upon his page, Bran mac Dímmáin, whom he gifted with a fine chess set.

Lord Gwydion was bid to remain before the dais, and was informed by Their Excellencies that it had been Their desire also to conduct business with him. Their Excellencies praised Lord Gwydion's many labors in both the fighting community and as the steward of demos and events. It honor of his generous service, Lord Gwydion was made a Companion of the Order of the Windmill. Scroll wording and calligraphy by Lady Helene al-zarqa', illuminated by Her Excellency Baroness Anastasie in the style of the Sforza Hours.
