Canton of Angels Keep


Here follows the report of the court of Their Excellencies, Artemius Andreas Magnus and Clarice Roan, by the grace of the crown of AEthelmearc eight baron and baroness of Delftwood, held at their Yule celebration in their Canton of Angels Keep on the 6th day of December, anno societatis XLIII, being in the common era 2008. Alheydis von Körckhingen reporting herald.

Their Excellencies invited the youth of the barony and beyond to attend them. Their Excellencies inquired  as to whether the youth has enjoyed the activities of the day and solicited from them an enthusiastic approval of the event's entertainments, where upon Their Excellencies bestowed upon the youths generous portions from the baronial cookie larder.

Their Excellencies then invited before them any gentles for whom this day was their first visit to these current Middle Ages. Their Excellencies thanked them for their presence among us and charged them with the task of asking excellent questions of our populace, that they might grow in wisdom and understanding of the Knowne World. Each visitor was gifted with a token by which to remember the day.

Their Excellencies called before them those gentles who had been of service to the baronial dinner at the Great Pennsic War. Her Excellency bestowed gifts to all those gentles whose service and skill had made the dinner a success.

Their Excellencies received Sir Ursus Maximus and his good Lady in their court, who expressed their happiness at having returned to Delftwood after many years of sojourn in foreign kingdoms and presented gifts unto the coronet which Their Excellencies received with delight and gratitude. Their Excellencies welcomed their return and expressed their hope that their lands would continue to be blessed by the participation of Sir Ursus and his good Lady.

Their Excellencies received Rubyn MacDonald into their court, who expressed his gratitude for the friendship and camaraderie extended to him by the populace of Delftwood and Angels Keep. With words most moving and true, Rubyn gifted Their Excellencies with a set of chess pieces and board, crafted by the labors of his hands and the warmth of his heart.

Their Excellences called upon Lasairfhíona inghean Uí Ghallchobhair, the otherwise unpronouncable, to attend them. Their Excellencies thanked Lasairfhíona for her service as the steward of the day's events, and invited her to recognize the youths who had participated in the boffer tournament.

Lord Benedict Fergus atte Mede was announced the winner of the day's fencing tournament, as attested by Lady Fenris McGill, co-ordinator of the contest.

Collyn de Blair was announced the winner of the day's gaming tournament, as attested by Rubyn MacDonald, co-ordinator of the contest.

Lady Gwenhwyvar Morwyn was inducted as a member of the Order of the Capstan in honor of her studies in the bardic arts. Scroll painted by Lady Gillian McGill and calligraphed by Lady Fenris McGill, upon the wording of both ladies.

The Honorable Lady Solveig Throndardottir was inducted as a member of the Order of the Capstan in recognition of her studies of Japanese arts, especially the way of tea, and of her generosity in sharing her knowledge with the populace of Delftwood. Lady Anastasie de Lamoure was inducted as a member of the Millguard, in honor of her dedication to the arts of archery and especially thrown weapons. Scroll painted and calligraphed by Verederosa Dal Sol.

Lord Corbinus de Cuvis was inducted as a member of the Millguard for his continued studies of the art of fencing. Scroll painted and calligraphed by Lady Anastasie de Lamoure.

Sultana bint Mihail was inducted as a member of the Order of the Windmill for her studies, service and support to the barony and populace. Scroll painted and calligraphed by Lady Faílenn ingen Chernaich.

Lady Desiderata Drake was called forward and made to bear witness to a pantomime of puppetry in which were told the many exploits of said Lady Desiderata. In honor of such exploits was she then made a companion of the Order of the Windmill. Scroll conceived, written and performed by Lady Helene al-Zarqa'.

Their being no further business before Their Excellencies, and there being no other puppets lurking behind the dais, this court was closed.
