Court Reports of the Barony of Delftwood
Oeric
February 4th AS 40
(2006)
Feast of the Seven Deadly Sins
Barony of Delftwood
Here follows the report of the Court of His Excellency Oeric, Baron of
Delftwood, held on the 4th day of February, Anno Societatis 40, in the
common reckoning AD 2006, at the Feast of the Seven Deadly Sins, held
in the Barony of Delftwood. Court was heralded by THLady Alheydis von
Körckhingen and Katari no Tashi. Report respectfully submitted by
THLady Alheydis von Körckhingen, Windmill Pursuivant.
His Excellency received Tristan Isadore de Alcaczar, who presented His
Excellency with a scroll case upon which was skillfully embroidered the
arms of Delftwood. His Excellency expressed his gratitude for Tristan's
artistry and generosity.
His Excellency received Helene al-Zarqá, who informed His
Excellency of a most grevious murder, the victim of which procaimed
that he was "not dead yet." In efforts to solve the mystery afoot, His
Excellency called forth the seven suspects: Sloth, Wrath, Pride, Envy,
Gluttony, Lust, Greed, Sloth....Sloth..... *sigh* SLOTH! (who did
finally heed the call of the court). Lust, emboldened by passion for
the victim, Mr. Body, did gift him with a poison kiss, thus revealing
the solution to the day's mystery game. Two winners were announced,
having first deduced the closest solutions: Beatrice de Winter was the
adult winner, and Stuart Goodwinson was the youth winner.
With the Seven Deadly Sins thus assembled, Helene al-Zarqá then
invited each Sin to choose a masked individual who best represented
their sinful nature. The winners were called forth and were gifted with
prizes befitting their characters. The best overall mask and costume,
by choice of the populace, was announced as Number Two, who came forth
and reveled her identity as none other than Her Excellency Baroness
Jennet the Gentle.
His Excellency received Captain John Michael Thorpe, organizer of two
of the day's fencing tournaments, who announced the winners.
Lord Stephen Bridewell of Atlantia was announced the victor of the
Period-Hilt Schlager Tournament. A prize of two goblets was not to
hand, but will be sent to Lord Stephen.
Ogedei was announced the winner of the overall tournament, a contest
among the four fencing schools assembled in Saint Mark's Square. The
prize of 5 kilos of Belgian dark chocolate had long since been consumed
by the victorous school. Scroll illumined and calligraphed by Helene
al-Zarqá.
His Excellency called forth Lord Michael Gladewyne and thanked him for
his faithful service as fencing champion of the Barony of Delftwood. As
his term of service was ended this day, Lord Michael was divested of
the regelia of champion.
Alexander du Lac was then announced as the new fencing champion,
invested of the regalia of that office, and invited to take his place
among the protectors of His Excellency. The scroll, based upon Camillo
Agrippa's Treatise on the Sciences of Arms, was illumined by
Faílenn ingen Chernaich and calligraphed by THLady Alheydis von
Körckhingen.
Lady Yang SuGyong was called forth before His Excellency, who praised
her skill and devotion to the martial arts. In recognition thereof,
Lady Yang SuGyong was made a companion of the as-yet-unnamed Baronial
Order of Merit in the Martial Arts. The scroll, based upon the
Smithfield Decretals, was illumined and calligraphed by THLady Alheydis
von Körckhingen.
THLady Dyan of Caledonia was called forth. Her Ladyship being absent,
Master Ian Muir presented himself on her behalf. His Excellency praised
the artistry and skills of Her Ladyship Dyan of Caledonion and made her
a companion in absentia of the Order of the Capstan. The scroll, based
upon a French Book of Hours for Rome use, was illumined by Lady Fenris
McGill, to be calligraphed by Lady Juliana Stafford.
Master Ian Muir, known as Keyard, was praised and commended by His
Excellency for his dedication and service to the barony. In recognition
thereof, Master Ian Muir, known as Keyard, was made companion of the
Order of the Windmill. The promisory scroll was based upon the
frontispiece of Camillo Agrippa's Trattato di Scienze d'Arme.
Anastasia de Lamoure was called forth before His Excellency, who spoke
most eloquently of Anastasie's skill and generosity in providing items
for the barony and for the kingdom gift baskets. In recognition of her
service, Anastasia de Lamoure was made a companion of the Order of the
Windmill. The scroll, based upon King Rene's Book of Love, was
illumined and calligraphed by Lady Gilliane McGill de Verona.
Helene al-Zarqá was called forth before His Excellency, who
recounted to his populace the many ways in which Helene, through the
gift of song, has been a most pleasing voice of the barony. In
recognition of her enthusiasm and dedication, Helene al-Zarqá
was made a companion of the as-yet-unnamed Baronial Order of the Spirit
of Delftwood. The scroll, an etched mirror with stained glass border,
and a companion stained glass respresentation of a mistral, the badge
of the order, was the work of Lord Artemius Andreas Magnus. The other
members of the order, being assembled before His Excellency, were each
gifted with stained glass respresentations of the mistral, also the
work of Lord Artemius Andreas Magnus.
His Excellency then announced that his term as baron would come an end
in one year's time, and that he would be stepping down as Baron of
Delftwood at the Feast of the Seven Deadly Sins of anno societatis XLI.
His Excellency invited those who would seek to serve as his successor
to make known to him their intent within the month of February.
There being no further business before His Excellency, court was closed.
