Barony of Delftwood


Here follows the report of the Court of His Excellency Oeric,  Baron of Delftwood, held on the 30th day of April, 2005, being the eve of the new year, at A Shoote in the Wilde Wood. Court was heralded by Lady Alheydis von Körckhingen and seconded by Fenris McGill. Report respectfully submitted by Lady Alheydis von Körckhingen.

His Excellency did report of his safe return from the Raids at Blackstone Mountain, and happily that the fame of Delftwood is spread throughout the kingdom, where the courtesy of her populace the skills of her many artisans is recognized and admired.

The children archers were called before His Excellency, who expressed his gratitude for their skill and bravery against all manner of beasts and monsters. His Excellency did then gift the children with cow bells as a token of his appreciation for their fine defense of His Excellency's lands.

As has become customary at this time each year, a handcrafted arrow made by Edward the Gray was passed to the youngest archer of the day. James Duffy was thank by His Excellency, for his care and guardianship of the arrow. The arrow was passed to young Sarah the Flirt, who was charged with its care for the coming year.

Lord Mustafa the Red and Elizabeth the Nameless were called before His Excellency, who did speak most eloquently of their many talents and service to the Barony of Delftwood. Edward Harbinger was called before His Excellency, who did express his amazement at Edward's bowmanship, and most especially at his profound skill at hunting vegetables. In recognition thereof, His Excellency did make Edward Harbinger to be Delftwood's Baronial Grocer. Scroll painted by Faílenn ingen Chernaich and scribed by Lady Alheydis von Körckhingen.

Baron Rian Gortyroyan was called forth. Upon consultation with Gyles de Blair, organizer of the day's tournament, His Excellency, Oeric, did then declare Baron Rian to be the winner of the day's tournament. Scroll painted by Ælfgyfu hearpestre and scribed by Lady Alheydis von Körckhingen.

Mischief and Mayhem, Baronial Bardic Champions, were then called forth. His Excellency did speak most poetically of their bountiful talent, and of the widespread fame and acclaim which they have earned throughout the kingdom. At His Excellency's request, Mischief and Mayhem did sing most beautifully of their travels through foreign baronies and of their reconnaissance beyond Æthelmearc's borders en route to the Raids at Blackstone Mountain. Their time of service at an end, Mischief and Mayhem were divested of the regalia of champion.

Lord Justin Lymner was called forth and was declared to be the new Bardic Champion of Delftwood. He was presented with the bardic champions book, and was invited to take his place among His Excellencies champions. Scroll painted and scribed by Helene al-Zarqá.

Gyles de Blair was called before His Excellency and commended for his year of service as Delftwood's Baronial Archery Champion and for his entertaining tournament targets. As his term had come to an end, he was divested of the regalia of champion.

Oliver Gladewyne was called forth, and in recognition of exceptional shooting this day, was declared to be the new Baronial Archery Champion of Delftwood. Oliver Gladwyne was then called back before His Excellency After speaking of Oliver's many contributions to the barony and her populace, His Excellency did then make him a Companion of the Order of the Windmill, to the delight of all present. The Court of His Excellency Oeric was thus completed.
