Heavy Champions Tourney
Barony of Delftwood
Here follows the Report for the Court of Their Excellencies Rian and
Jennet, in Their Barony of Delftwood at Their Heavy Champions Tourney,
September 27, 2003 (AS XXXVIII). Report by Seigneur Jean Ancelin,
Windmill Pursuivant, with assistance from Lord Christopher Harper and
Lady Alheydis von Koerckingen.
The scroll for Lady Svana in kyrra's induction into the Order of the
Windmill was read aloud (award originally done at Hare-Raising Hounds,
July 12, 2003). The scroll was embroidered by Lady Julian de Ver.
Mistress Sadira bint Wassouf presented an elaborate subtlety of a
windmill on fire, in return for Delftwood's platter of raven wings at
Pennsic.
Their Excellencies recognized the resignation of Lady Thomasina Bernes
from the post of Baronial Chatelaine, presenting her with a token of
their appreciation for a job well done. It was announced that
Mattea di Luna would take Lady Thomasina's place as Chatelaine.
Lord Christopher Harper, Windmill Pursuivant, announced his intention
to step down from his office. He divested himself of the office
and regalia of Windmill Pursuivant, and invested his deputy, Seigneur
Jean Ancelin, with the same. He expressed his desire to remain
available to assist all those in need, as a Herald-at-Large.
After being thanked by Their Excellencies and presented with a gift, he
withdrew from the Court of Their Excellencies.
Having been newly invested, Windmill Pursuivant called Lady Alheydis
von Koerkingen into Court and invested her as his first deputy, charged
with the authority to replace him should he become unable to perform
his duties.
Lord Jean Charles du Lamb was recognized as the overall winner of the
day's tournament.
The Honorable Lord Wulfstan Huscarl was recognized by Her Excellency as
surpassing all others in comportment and courtesy. Their
Excellencies made him a personal gift of a pair of fine chalices and a
bottle of mead.
Earl Yngvar the Dismal was recognized as the receiver of the most
spectacular blow during the tournament, and received a candlestick and
candle, so that he might be a shining example to others.
His Lordship, Kai Saer Pren, Heavy Weapons Champion of Delftwood was
called before Their Excellencies. As his term had ended, he
returned the regalia of the Champion to Their Excellencies.
William FitzWilliam was called forth and invested as Delftwood's new
Baronial Champion, taking his place in the retinue.
Her Excellency bestowed a token of her gratitude to William Merrick,
for exceptional service and courtesy during the day.
The Court of Rian and Jennet, Baron and Baroness of Delftwood, was thus
ended.
